World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She earned nearly 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Additional WTA Award Honorees

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking extended hiatus following the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after securing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
