Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is filing a lawsuit against the makers of Tylenol, alleging the corporations withheld potential risks that the pain reliever posed to children's brain development.

The lawsuit follows thirty days after Former President Trump publicized an unsubstantiated connection between using Tylenol - also known as paracetamol - during pregnancy and autism in offspring.

Paxton is filing suit against J&J, which previously sold the drug, the sole analgesic suggested for women during pregnancy, and the current manufacturer, which presently makes it.

In a declaration, he stated they "misled consumers by gaining financially from discomfort and pushing pills regardless of the dangers."

The manufacturer asserts there is insufficient reliable data tying Tylenol to autism.

"These companies misled for generations, knowingly endangering millions to increase profits," Paxton, from the Republican party, said.

Kenvue stated officially that it was "deeply concerned by the dissemination of inaccurate information on the reliability of paracetamol and the possible consequences that could have on the welfare of women and children in America."

On its website, the company also mentioned it had "regularly reviewed the relevant science and there is lacking reliable evidence that indicates a established connection between taking paracetamol and autism."

Organizations acting on behalf of physicians and healthcare providers share this view.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has declared paracetamol - the main ingredient in Tylenol - is among limited choices for pregnant women to treat pain and fever, which can present major wellness concerns if left untreated.

"In more than two decades of investigation on the utilization of paracetamol in pregnancy, zero credible investigations has successfully concluded that the consumption of acetaminophen in any trimester of gestation causes neurodevelopmental disorders in children," the group said.

The lawsuit mentions recent announcements from the previous government in asserting the drug is allegedly unsafe.

Recently, Trump raised alarms from health experts when he advised women during pregnancy to "resist strongly" not to take Tylenol when sick.

The FDA then issued a notice that medical professionals should contemplate reducing the usage of acetaminophen, while also stating that "a proven link" between the drug and autism spectrum disorder in children has not been established.

The Health Department head RFK Jr, who manages the FDA, had promised in April to conduct "comprehensive study program" that would identify the cause of autism in a short period.

But experts advised that discovering a sole reason of autism - believed by scientists to be the result of a complicated interplay of genetic and surrounding conditions - would be difficult.

Autism spectrum disorder is a form of enduring cognitive variation and condition that impacts how people perceive and interact with the environment, and is identified using physician assessments.

In his lawsuit, Paxton - aligned with the former president who is seeking US Senate - asserts the manufacturer and J&J "deliberately disregarded and sought to suppress the science" around paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder.

The lawsuit aims to force the firms "destroy any marketing or advertising" that asserts Tylenol is safe for pregnant women.

The Texas lawsuit parallels the complaints of a collection of mothers and fathers of minors with autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who took legal action against the manufacturers of acetaminophen in two years ago.

A federal judge dismissed the case, stating studies from the parents' expert witnesses was lacking definitive proof.
