Almost 55,000 households have currently been impacted by the storms, with their possessions and temporary homes destroyed.

Intense precipitation over the last seven days have intensified the extremely difficult living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated civilians in the territory, according to humanitarian agencies.

"Terrible" Night Poses Grave Threats

A representative characterized the weather overnight as "horrendous", with rain so heavy that up to 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the streets.

"These conditions was really horrendous for the residents. The storms were so powerful... And the gusts were so strong," said the spokesperson.

There is significant worry that minors living in tents in wet attire will contract hypothermia and other sicknesses.

Casualties and Significant Destruction

Health authorities have reported that one baby has succumbed from exposure and at least 11 other people have been killed in building collapses caused by the storms.

Other reports indicate a increased number of casualties. Officials stated that numerous structures had collapsed completely and many others had collapsed partially.

  • Roughly 55,000 families harmed by flooding.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Numerous individuals forced to move once more.

Relief Efforts Deemed Insufficient

Groups have escalated shipments of shelter, bedding and clothes since the ceasefire started, but they stress there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Officials are striving constantly to deliver that assistance and to allocate it, but the magnitude of the requirements is so immense that we are faced with thousands of individuals and minors who are truly struggling nightly," stated one spokesperson.

Ongoing Issues and Truce Terms

The second phase of the ceasefire involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of personnel, and other conditions.

Humanitarian groups have underscored the necessity for "expanded and ongoing aid to meet immediate and long-term needs."

The hostilities was sparked by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Later military operations have caused a substantial number of casualties in the area, as per health ministry reports.
