‘Oh How We Will Miss This Man’: Meg Ryan Publishes Emotional Tribute to Rob Reiner

Meg Ryan has posted a tribute to the deceased director Rob Reiner, who directed her in the iconic romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally.

A Devastating Incident

Reiner was discovered deceased alongside his spouse, Michele Singer Reiner, at their Los Angeles home this past weekend.

“We will miss this man so deeply…” the actress posted on Instagram, alongside a picture of them together. “We thank you, Rob and Michele, for your belief in true love, fairy tales, and laughter. Thank you for your faith in the best in people, and for your profound love of our country.”

Court Case Developments

Reiner’s son Nick, 32, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and made a court appearance today. He’s being held without bail. It’s been reported that Reiner’s daughter Romy found her father’s body.

“I must hold onto hope that their tale doesn't conclude here, that awareness can be heightened from this,” Ryan continued. “Perhaps they would desire a legacy of hope and humanity, leading us toward empathy and tranquility.”

A Statement from Siblings

Reiner’s other children Jake and Romy issued words today. “No words can convey the constant, profound sorrow we feel,” they said. “The tragic, shattering loss of our parents is an experience no one should have to face. They were more than parents; they were our closest confidants.”

Colleagues and Friends Remember

Ryan’s co-star, Billy Crystal, also paid tribute to Reiner with a statement shared yesterday along with names including Larry David, Martin Short and Albert Brooks.

“No one matched his comic instinct, his dedication to rhythmic dialogue, or his elegant sharpening of drama,” the tribute noted. “He adored his actors. He elevated his writers. Freedom was his key offering. He listened to ideas and included you in the creative journey. Everyone felt like part of a crew. His direction was a gift, but his legacy is broader.”

An Enduring Filmography

When Harry Met Sally was a critical and commercial success in 1989, grossing more than $93 million worldwide and securing Nora Ephron an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay.

Rob Reiner was introduced to Michele Singer Reiner while making When Harry Met Sally. The pair were brought together by Barry Sonnenfeld, a fellow filmmaker and pal.

Reiner’s extensive filmography comprised classics such as Misery, Stand by Me and The Princess Bride. The director and his wife were married for 36 years.
