The Miami Heat put up eighty-six opening half points versus the Memphis Grizzlies

The Heat secured a decisive 146-114 win over the Grizzlies in their first basketball game after player Terry Rozier was arrested over alleged illegal gambling.

Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was additionally arrested in connection with a sweeping federal investigation into illegal gambling. The two individuals deny the allegations.

League Commissioner Silver 'Upset' by Arrests

Speaking about the arrests for the first time, NBA commissioner Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the past few days.

"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and supporters than the fairness of the competition," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting."

Silver further mentioned an NBA investigation into Rozier's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he played for the Hornets versus the Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"It was brought to our attention by the authorities and the betting companies," he continued.

"We then looked into the matter and were very transparent regarding it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, honestly, couldn't find anything.

"The federal government has subpoena power... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the NBA is unable to.

"Therefore, we've been working with them from that point. And, of course, what they announced yesterday was an indictment.

"Moreover 30 months later, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in justice to Rozier.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a balance here between protecting people's rights and conducting an inquiry."
