'Living a Nightmare': Families of Missing Teens Await Answers After Ski Resort Inferno

The families of teenagers unaccounted for after a devastating inferno at a establishment in a Switzerland's ski resort are confronting an agonising period of uncertainty for official news and requesting information about their loved ones online.

The fire ripped through the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Circulated footage show the ceiling being engulfed in flames as beverages with fireworks are held aloft.

Authorities have indicated that it could take considerable time to formally name the fatalities of the disaster, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and wounded another scores more. Authorities said on the latest update that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts ongoing to identify the other six.

"This is a living nightmare, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in intensive care. It's terrible," she stated.

She continued that some of his companions had been discovered with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they experienced hell."

The Italian government has confirmed that a number of of its young people have not been located.

Junior golfer Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last in contact around midnight on December 31st, his father said.

One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, who hailed from Italy but now living in Dubai.

The national sporting body has said that he is dead, without mentioning the fire, honoring a "talented young man who represented dedication and authentic values."

His father, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also among the missing. His parent told reporters that he had been on holiday but had gone out with a group and ended up at the venue.

"A close friend said they escaped after the fire erupted and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he couldn't see him anymore," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable piece of jewelry.

One of his educators commented, "I've always been struck by his kindness and smile, combined with great responsibility. Often ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives permanently in Switzerland, was also at the bar on that night, according to reports.

Her sibling has published an appeal on social media, saying the family has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are closely watching the developments.
