Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
