The celebrated British actress Mirren, previously winner of an Oscar, multiple Bafta awards, Globes trophies, five Emmys, along with a Tony Award, is set to add another esteemed prize to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe career honor.

Honors Presentation

Mirren, 80, previously honored as a dame back in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow back in 2014, will receive the accolade during a presentation on the eighth of January, three days before the Golden Globes main event take place, within an event billed by the organization as the Golden Eve event.

Also part of the event will be the presentation of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for television achievement, whose winner is still to be revealed. Previous recipients were Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Helen Mirren is an unstoppable talent, with a career is absolutely extraordinary,” said the organization’s president, the Globes’ leader. “Her brilliant portrayals and commitment to her craft persistently influence numerous actors and fans too. We are deeply honored to award her the Cecil B DeMille award.”

Career Highlights

The star rose to fame during the seventies with key roles in stage productions at London’s West End and with the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

Back in the 90s, her starring role in the crime series Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase even more. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her portrayal as Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen, a character she reprised during 2013 in The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan concerning the sessions involving the monarch and premier the former PM, and for which she received a Tony Award back in 2015.

Latest Works and Future Roles

• Later-career movies include Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, for which she provided narration.
• Her role in the streaming adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews and awards buzz is increasing about her portrayal as a dying matriarch in Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, Mirren will be seen portraying Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nominations are set to be revealed on the eighth of December, with the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet and Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
