Barcelona Ready for Historic Fixture at Renovated Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed they will play at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in La Liga two and a half years since relocating so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators are permitted inside under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium in early November. The club said they were hoping for permission by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt next month at the stadium. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
