Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community shared its support for the fighter in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
